Buyer's Rebate Q & A

Q. Are rebates legal?

A. Yes, Washington State Department of Licensing allows either Real Estate Broker involved in a transaction to give any or all of their respective earned commissions to either principal (the buyer or seller) in that transaction.

Q. I already have a buyer's agent. Can I still participate in the program?

A. No. In order to participate in the Barrans Realty Buyer’s Rebate Program, you cannot have a buyer's agent representation agreement with another real estate firm.

Q. How do I get started?

A. Begin by downloading the rebate registration form.  Fax it back to us and your agent will guide you step by step from finding your home through the closing of escrow.

Q. How is the Rebate paid?

A. The Rebate can be paid in cash via check or as a Closing Cost Credit to reduce money you need to bring to Closing. If you choose a cash settlement please beware that there may be tax consequences associated with your rebate. If you need tax advice please consult with your tax professional.

Q: How do "rebates" work? This seems too good to be true.

A: For Buyers, it is simple - most real estate agents keep all of the commission the seller pays them, but our agents don't. When you buy a home, the seller (or builder) pays our network agents a commission and they simply give some of that money back to you, the buyer. There is never any charge to you as the buyer.
